Is Google and Microsoft Pay Per Click Advertising the Only Way to Get Noticed on the Internet?
Optimizing your website perfectly takes time and expense too however it pays off along with your business popularity and high ranking in the various major search engines. Website marketing includes contextual advertising, paid placement and paid inclusion. Additionally, you'll find it includes Search Engine Optimization (commonly known as SEO). The biggest vendors for paid inclusion are Google Adwords and Microsoft ad Center.
I personally don’t care for using these paid inclusion sites. I think it is more beneficial for small business owners to learn the basics of SEM and then decide whether to do the work in house or to farm it out. If you choose to farm it out you will need to be somewhat educated in order to help you choose the company or person you decide to hire for the job.
There are many tutorials out there that can get you started. I myself have written a ebook for the newbie and the veteran internet marketer alike called “The Rules Of Internet Marketing”. You can never "know it all". Since the entire internet changes daily. I go to seminars, read articles and visit many social media sites.
Therefore if you are ready to grow your business online SEM is the answer. Also you will want to pursue the major Social Media site. But that is a topic for another blog article.

SEO: For Search Engines or Humans
Many web site owners are spending countless hours tweaking and modifying their web sites, adding keyword rich content, and spending hours obtaining back links, so that their site will rank higher in search engines. It is true that over 90% of all web surfers use search engines to visit sites on a regular basis, but should web masters and web site designers build and tweak sites for search engines, or for their visitors? This very subject has been batted back and forth by many Web-designers and Search Engine Marketers. Many times leading to an impasse that no one seems to be able to get around.
The answer to this question is that when you build a web site, you are not targeting web search engine crawlers, you are targeting people and human visitors. Hence, you should build a web site for humans, not search engines. The whole purpose to create a web site is so that you can get traffic. Without traffic, a web site is worthless. No matter how many features and how functional your site is, without traffic, your design and functionality do not matter.
Search engines can help bring in traffic, web sites should be built for people and then apply SEO to your site, working within the parameters of the web site. Visitors will visit and then soon leave your web site and not return again if your optimization is not in tune with your web site. Return visitors are critical for the success of any web site.
One good example of optimizing for search engines purely is some webmasters tend to stuff tons of keywords into the Meta-Tags hoping this will attract the search engines; this is a very bad practice and will get the site blacklisted. Moreover, this black hat technique does not benefit the users. If you find someone who tells you he/she can get your website on the first page in Google in 24 or 48 hours, most likely they are using black hat tactics and it will be eventually be caught by the search engines and you will get kicked off the first page and it will take a lot of hard work time and money to get back into a respectable presence if ever.
Hence, when building a web site, one should build it for human visitors. If you have articles that are too keyword dense, the quality of the writing will not be as high as it should, and quite frankly, many of your visitors will be annoyed if you keep using words such as “mesothelioma” or “home insurance loan” and that is not what your site is about. This practice is often used to get your web site high in the search rankings for these terms. Once the traffic comes to your site and your site is not relevant they will leave your web site and most likely not return.
If you create a web site where content is created for people to read and is well written, then optimized for search engines chances are you will get many return visitors who like the quality of the content you provide and come back frequently to read any new content you may have added. This is what is called "targeted traffic" these are the kinds of people you want to your site and these are the people that will actually become your customers. The more people that visit and link to your web site, the more popular it well become and naturally, it will be ranked higher in search engines. Search engines are getting smarter every day and are learning to judge good content in a lot of ways.
A good balance of SEO and adding features to your web site is the optimal way to go. Adding features to your web site which would prompt more people to return to your site and stay at your web site for a longer period of time. Adding a blog that complements your website is also a good idea. Make sure you add good content to your blogs at least once a week.
In conclusion, If you build your web sites for people, and do your search engine marketing in a steady and white hat way your traffic will grow and search engine rankings will rise naturally. Hence, the best way to build a successful web site is to build your site for people and do your web site optimize carefully, add articles and blog content to naturally move up search engine rankings. This is the right way to getting your website to the search engines, having good content and applying sound SEO. This will allow your web site rankings to go viral throughout the internet.

Do Negative People Rub You the Wrong Way?
A negative, pessimistic, and complaining person can wear on your nerves and deplete your energy faster than you realize.
And trying to change their attitude wastes even more of your energy. Your effort has no chance of success when they do not want to cooperate.
When you believe that positive thinking is desirable and negative thinking is undesirable, then you are empowering people to irritate you when they think and talk in negative ways.
Dr. Al Siebert, author of The Survivor Personality and our Resiliency personal learning course, calls that kind of thinking "The Theme Song of the Human Race."
This belief, "If only other people would change, things would be much better for me," may indeed be correct, he says, but it also makes it possible for negative people to control you. When others are negative they can upset you, cause you to spend time and energy trying to cope with their negativism, and frustrate your positive efforts.
The solution to regaining control is not to change them but to change how you respond to them.
Start by giving the negative person permission to be here on Earth the way they are.
"When you feel frustrated or feel an energy drain, treat the difficulty as a test in the school of life," Al says. "Look at it as an opportunity to learn about your blind spots. Appreciate opportunities to learn better ways of handling people who knock you off balance emotionally."
Next, replace the thought "If only they would change, my life would be much better" with questions.
Ask, "How might I respond differently so that I am less vulnerable? What could I do to regain control? How can I handle negativity in positive ways?"
When someone says something negative, try one of the following:
* Say, "You may be right," then change the subject.
* Pretend you didn't hear them. Attention is a big payoff for people with pessimistic attitudes, so stop reacting to their negative statements. Withdraw attention. Be selectively impolite.
* Be playful. Say, "It's much worse than you know." Describe more things to be upset about, and then be quiet or leave.
* Say, "Now that you've identified the problem, what is your plan for dealing with it?"
* See the benefit of their negative thinking. Develop an appreciation for the ability of chronically pessimistic people to see potential risks and problems that others overlook.
* Make the negative person a useful resource. Ask them to help you anticipate difficulties. If you thank them for their critical thinking, your relationship will probably improve.
Rehearse what you might say the next time you are around a negative person. Notice how much more in control you feel when you develop a positive plan of action.
The key to making your life better is to stop blaming others for triggering reactions in you that you don't like and to focus instead on discovering better ways to respond. When you change how you react, your emotional strain is reduced.
To Your Success!
